Can you grow plants under Fluorescent Lights?

No comment yet

While fluorescent lights are not ideal for all plants, there are some varieties that will thrive under this type of light.  Most plants that are leafy and do not produce flowers do well with these lights.  This can include most decorative household plants and vegetables where the leaves are consumed, such as lettuce and cabbage.

Using Fluorescent Lights for your kitchen garden

With everyone wanting to use fresh herbs in their cooking, it is important to have a kitchen garden inside your home.  The problem is that most kitchens do not receive enough sunlight to promote growth.  You can supplement the natural light in your kitchen by using fluorescent lights.  The easiest way to use these lights is to have the plants on the countertop and mount the light under the cabinet.  This allows the light to be close enough to the plants to promote growth.
